What you need to know After two years of construction, KOI Superior Walls President Ross Votel unveiled the company’s new 38,000-square-foot headquarters in Burlington. In 2024, the company broke ground on its new Burlington facility at 5719 Limaburg Road. The new facility will increase the company’s production capacity and add 6,000 square feet of office space. Through the expansion, KOI plans to hire 73 new employees for manufacturing, installation, sales, design, administrative, and management roles. To commemorate the completion of the factory, KOI Superior Walls hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony July 29, attended by state and local officials, as well as company employees and their families.
“As many of you may know, right across the street, KOI Precast Concrete has been operating since 1987, making precast concrete products,” Votel said. ” Find out what else is going on in Burlington Boone County Judge/Executive Gary Moore said Votel approached his office six years ago with the idea of building out a new manufacturing facility within the county. KOI Superior Walls is the sister company of KOI Precast Concrete, a manufacturer and distributor of precast concrete structures used to build foundation walls for residential construction.
KOI specifically provides its foundation pieces to customers in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana. The manufacturing process for prefabricated walls differs from that of a traditional concrete foundation. Rather than forming and pouring concrete on-site, the foundation is manufactured in a factory. The finished panels are transported to the home installation site by truck, then installed by crane. The process reduces the time it takes for homebuilders to complete a foundation. Sam Flynn, a Boone County native and special advisor to Gov. Andy Beshear, said the new facility will bolster Northern Kentucky’s housing industry, which has a significant economic impact on the region.
“I had an opportunity to talk to Ross a little bit about what this is going to be for Northern Kentucky – bringing down the time it takes to have one of the many new homes that are being built here in Boone County, from having that foundation take seven, eight, nine, ten days all the way down to two days time to get that foundation put in place,” Flynn said.
