Amazon Air’s first factory-built freighter, painted in dedicated Amazon Air Cargo colours and named Odyssey, has entered service. It is one of three production Boeing 767-300Fs, each carrying a distinct livery as the airline expands its owned fleet. ” He described each aircraft’s path from paint shop to service entry as “a journey of its own,” before it joins the network supporting deliveries to millions of customers. Odyssey enters service alongside two sister aircraft, Zenith and Soar, marking the first time Amazon Air has operated Boeing-produced 767 freighters rather than converted passenger jets.

Each of the three features a distinct brand identity, creating a rolling showcase of Amazon’s evolving air cargo strategy within a single aircraft type. Zenith wears the Amazon Supply Chain Services livery, reflecting Amazon's broader logistics arm beyond air. Soar retains the airline's original Prime Air design, the branding under which Amazon Air first took to the skies in 2016. Odyssey, in Amazon Air Cargo colours, represents the newest and most commercially significant identity: the brand under which Amazon sells freighter capacity to third-party forwarders and shippers, not just its own parcels.

The Amazon Air Cargo livery isn’t entirely new to the fleet. Amazon first applied it to N496MM, a Boeing 767-300F then operated by AmeriJet International, signalling the shift toward wholesale capacity sales. That aircraft has since been re-registered N683AZ and moved to ABX Air, a subsidiary of Air Transport Services Group (ATSG). Odyssey’s debut marks the livery's first appearance on a factory-built aircraft, rather than a converted one. A fleet built on partner airlines Amazon Air operates more than 100 aircraft and runs over 250 flights daily, seven days a week, across North America, Latin America, EMEA and Asia, with international charters also available.

The fleet spans Boeing 737s, Boeing 767s and Airbus A330s; but Amazon flies none of them itself. According to Planespotters data, Amazon Air operates a fleet of 101 freighters, with seven currently parked. The fleet comprises 10 Airbus A330s, 29 Boeing 737s, and 62 Boeing 767s. As an indirect air carrier, Amazon Air relies entirely on partner airlines to operate under Crew, Maintenance and Insurance (CMI) or ACMI-style agreements. Current operators include Air Transport International (ATI) and ABX Air, both wholly owned subsidiaries of ATSG, along with Sun Country Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, 21 Air, ASL Airlines Ireland, AmeriJet International and Quikjet.

Atlas Air, the original launch partner from 2016, exited its CMI role in May 2025, ending crew, maintenance and insurance support for 25 converted freighters: eight Boeing 737-800Fs and 17 Boeing 767-300Fs.
