Asset Reconstruction Company (India) will be the first Indian company specializing in asset reconstruction to be listed on the stock exchange. Asset Reconstruction Company (India), known as ARCIL, is preparing its entry into the stock market while seeking to diversify its business in one of Asia's financial systems with the greatest growth potential. The company plans to launch its initial public offering on September 9, an operation that will make it the first Indian company specializing in asset reconstruction to be listed on the national markets.

73 million shares at a price between 132 and 139 rupees per share. 6 million dollars, and would give ARCIL a valuation close to 45,160 million rupees. The company will not use the operation to raise new capital to finance its growth. It is an offer for sale in which some of its current shareholders will reduce their stakes. These include Avenue India Resurgence, owned by the US investment firm Avenue Capital Group, and State Bank of India. 67% if the planned sale is completed. The decision not to raise new funds is due, according to ARCIL's management, to the company's financial position.

The IPO coincides with a transformation of the traditional business of asset reconstruction companies in India. These entities acquire loans and other problematic assets from banks and financial institutions to subsequently manage their recovery, thus helping to free entities from part of their impaired loans. ARCIL was the first company of this type created in India and is now seeking to expand its activity towards businesses that generate income through commissions. One of the possibilities it is studying is to act as a recovery and collection agent for banks and other financial entities.

The diversification also responds to a reduction in available opportunities in the segment of large impaired corporate loans. ARCIL is progressively shifting part of its focus towards retail assets and smaller operations, where it believes there is still significant growth potential. At the end of March, the company managed assets worth 201,500 million rupees. Recoveries reached 34,840 million during the fiscal year 2026, below the 38,820 million recorded during the previous year. Despite this decrease, management believes that the performance of the retail business remains strong.

ARCIL's transformation also reflects the evolution experienced by the Indian financial system in recent years. The development of specific mechanisms to resolve insolvencies and manage impaired loans has progressively modified a market that for years was conditioned by the high volume of problematic loans accumulated by financial institutions. Asset reconstruction companies have played a specific role in this process by acquiring part of these loans and subsequently trying to recover their value. Now, the reduction of certain opportunities linked to large companies forces the sector to seek other segments.

For ARCIL, this means increasing the weight of retail assets, working with smaller-value operations, and exploring recovery and collection services for third parties. Its stock market listing therefore represents more than just a financial operation.
