The Valencian company iPronics, a pioneer in photonic infrastructure for artificial intelligence, announced this Wednesday that it has closed a Series B funding round of 125 million dollars (108 million euros), co-led by Maverick Silicon and Light Street Capital. The North American multinational Nvidia has joined the round as a strategic investor, along with new investors and existing investors such as Criteria Venture Tech, Triatomic Capital, Bosch Ventures, Catalight Capital, European Innovation Council Fund, The Tate Family Trust, Fine Structure Ventures, Amadeus Capital Partners, and Build Collective.

In addition, iPronics, which has its headquarters in València, has opened an office in Santa Clara (California) to strengthen its presence in the United States. According to a statement from iPronics, the company will use the funds to scale its operations, accelerate commercial deployment, and respond to the growing demand for its iPronics ONE (Optical Networking Engine) photonic chip, an optical switch for AI that dynamically reconfigures connectivity between GPU clusters in real time. With this operation, the total funding raised by the company amounts to 153 million euros (177 million dollars), consolidating iPronics as one of the European leaders in photonic infrastructure for artificial intelligence.

In the previous round, in January 2025, it raised 20 million euros. 7 million. Founded in 2019 as a spin-off from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) after years of research in programmable photonics, iPronics is a pioneer in the development of optical connectivity solutions, including the industry's first real-time optical circuit switching layer for AI cluster networks. Its flagship product, iPronics ONE, replaces static network topologies with a software-controlled optical backbone that reconfigures bandwidth in real time, increasing effective utilization, reducing energy consumption, and cost per token.

"The technology developed by iPronics allows for "faster and more efficient" connection of large GPU clusters, an increasingly critical element for the next generation of artificial intelligence data centers. iPronics CEO, Christian Dupont, states in the press release that "having the support of Maverick Silicon, Light Street Capital, and Nvidia is a powerful validation" of the project, which "elevates iPronics to a new category of leaders in optical networks." "Following the operation, Manish Muthal, Senior Managing Director of Maverick Silicon, and Geoffrey Tate, advisor to Light Street Capital and "one of the most recognized figures in the semiconductor industry," according to iPronics, join the company's board of directors.

Tate was the founder and CEO of Rambus, co-founder and CEO of Flex Logix, and previously Senior Vice President of Microprocessors at AMD. Albert Morro continues on the board as Vice President, representing Criteria Venture Tech, the fund that has accompanied iPronics' growth since its inception. "We bet on iPronics from the beginning because we understood that photonics would eventually become an essential piece of AI infrastructure. In addition to the new board members, Young Sohn, founding partner of Catalight Capital, a fund manager specializing in AI infrastructure, joins as an advisor to the company.

Sohn brings decades of leadership in semiconductors and silicon photonics: he was Corporate President and Chief Strategy Officer at Samsung and CEO of Inphi, and is currently a board member of Arm and Cadence Design Systems.
