Iron Road Partners has named James “Jim” McGovern Managing Director, adding a former SEC enforcement official and longtime hedge fund chief compliance officer to the regulatory consulting firm’s leadership team. S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Enforcement and ultimately served as an Assistant Director in the Asset Management Unit, the SEC’s specialized enforcement unit focused on the investment management industry. Following his SEC career, McGovern moved into senior legal and compliance roles at hedge fund managers. Most recently, he served as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Candlestick Capital Management.
He previously served as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Mason Capital Management and as Chief Compliance Officer at Hutchin Hill Capital. He began his legal career in the litigation department of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan. Iron Road said the appointment strengthens two areas of its business: its team of former senior SEC officials and its capabilities serving hedge fund managers. McGovern brings experience both conducting regulatory enforcement investigations and building compliance programs from inside asset management firms. Iron Road provides regulatory advisory and technology-enabled managed services to investment managers and registered funds from offices in New York, Boston, and Denver.
