Work on the SWITCH Harbourside project in Port Talbot has reached a major milestone, with the steel frame for the new facility now being erected. The 196,000-square-foot site is dedicated to producing titanium alloy castings for the aerospace and energy sectors, with a focus on securing domestic supply chains.

The advancement of the Port Talbot facility reflects a wider trend of high-value industrial investment reported in late August 2026. Semiconductors: SK hynix held a groundbreaking ceremony on August 28, 2026, for a $4 billion advanced packaging plant in West Lafayette, Indiana. The facility, expected to begin production in the second half of 2029, will focus on High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) and is projected to create 1,000 jobs. Lam Research also broke ground on a new 120,000-square-foot laboratory in Oregon as part of a $3 billion global investment strategy.
