Article excerpt

Editorial Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is associated with a lower risk of mortality and cardiovascular complications in adults with type 2 diabetes treated with basal insulin. The research evaluated nearly 28,000 adults with type 2 diabetes treated with basal insulin.A second independent study, conducted in France with more than 253,000 people with type 2 diabetes, also showed a reduction in hospitalizations for acute diabetes episodes among users of Libre technology. The study on mortality and cardiovascular outcomes analyzed a large database of electronic health records from the United States. Its objective was to evaluate long-term outcomes in adults with type 2 diabetes treated with basal insulin. Researchers matched nearly 28,000 adults, including approximately 14,000 CGM users and 14,000 people who did not use these systems. To do so, they considered 29 baseline characteristics and performed different sensitivity analyses. The work employed a target trial emulation approach.
