Aaron Groff with the Missouri Department of Transportation, left, discusses a planned transmission project with Jeff Hasting of Ameren at a Sept. 23 meeting at East Central College. Ameren Missouri recently unveiled its plans for two large transmission line projects connecting Union, as well as a large planned electrical substation on the south end of the city. The project features what will be called the Tibbe Substation near the intersection of Highway 47 and College Road. New transmission lines will connect east of Highway 47 for six miles from the existing Franklin Substation near the intersection of Bieker and Clearview roads to the new substation. Another set of transmission lines will be built 11 miles from the Tibbe Substation to the existing Gray Summit Substation off Old Highway 100. Transmission lines are shown near a data center under construction near New Florence. Ameren Transmission signs warn people not to enter a data center construction site in Montgomery County Sept. 26.
