The next mega IPO of the year is imminent. Still this year, Anthropic, the provider of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Claude, wants to go public. It could happen as early as November, after the American congressional elections, various media report. The figures from the IPO prospectus, which have now become public via the Reuters news agency, are significant: On the one hand, Anthropic is growing, and very strongly. Revenue has increased twelvefold within a year, to 4.6 billion dollars in fiscal year 2025. On the other hand, Anthropic is also making high losses. In fiscal year 2025, these amounted to eight billion dollars from actual operating business. In total, Anthropic even recorded 42 billion dollars in losses, the rest is explained by accounting revaluations. Anthropic is aiming for a market value of two trillion dollars, more than Elon Musk's space and AI company SpaceX at the time of its record IPO in June. It would be the largest IPO of all time. But there are legitimate doubts as to whether Anthropic can really justify its valuation. What speaks for the company is that it continues to grow largely unhindered. In May, Anthropic itself announced that the "run rate", i.e., the current revenue projected to an annual basis, was over 47 billion dollars.
