In the state of Ohio, the food licensing year runs from March 1 through the end of February of the following year. Crawford County Public Health (CCPH) initiated the annual Food Safety Award Program after the 2012 licensing year was complete with initially only 10 facilities being recognized with an award. Zach Wolfe, Board of Health President, commented about the growing number of facilities receiving an award each year. "This is the largest number of facilities we have ever recognized with food safety awards. Our health inspectors show up unannounced for these inspections and it is not easy to win either award.
