BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WBNG) - Your next visit to The Discovery Center might look a little different after a new exhibit was unveiled on Wednesday. The ribbon was cut on Wednesday, Sept. 30, for a new STEM-focused exhibit at The Discovery Center in Binghamton, in partnership with BAE Systems, to give children a creative, interactive, and fun way to experience science, technology, engineering, and math. Engineering Director and Site Executive at BAE Systems, Rajinda Rai, talked about how this exhibit could help shape children into wanting to take on STEM as a career field. "Children are inquisitive, and they imagine, and they dream, right? They see a plane just like I did when I was a kid many years ago, are able to see aircraft flying in the sky, and they can dream that they're being a pilot, as our two pilots are dressed here today," Rai said. The new exhibit, titled "Energizing the Future," replaces the museum's former "Take Flight" exhibit. Some of the highlights of the new exhibit include: The redesign is roughly 14 months in the making, all going back to sketches of what BAE Systems wanted to put in the space. Work was being done on the space all the way up to Tuesday, Sept. 29. Copyright 2026 WBNG. All rights reserved.
