Bechtel, one of the nation's largest contractors by revenue, has reached a critical milestone on another liquefied natural gas infrastructure project in Texas. The Reston, Virginia-based builder has reached substantial completion of the Corpus Christi Liquefaction Stage 3 Project in Gregory, Texas, according to an announcement from Cheniere Energy, the plant's owner. Bechtel began working on the project's third stage in 2022. Bechtel reached the milestone when it turned over care, custody and control of the seventh and last liquefaction train to Cheniere on Aug. 28, per the announcement. The project expands Cheniere's LNG production capacity by over 20% to approximately 56 million tonnes per annum. This is not Bechtel's only project with Cheniere - in May, the contractor won a $4.69 billion contract to expand Cheniere's Sabine Pass plant in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.
