By Julian Weber Stuttgart - The program to cut thousands of jobs at automotive supplier Bosch has cleared an important hurdle. Agreements have been reached at all affected locations, said Frank Sell, head of the works council for the supplier division, in Stuttgart. Only in one area at the largest German site in Stuttgart-Feuerbach - specifically at Bosch Digital - are negotiations still ongoing regarding the management's plans. "The negotiations were extremely difficult," said Sell. The primary goal was to prevent the worst and reduce the cuts. At many locations, it was also achieved that apprentices would be taken on and that training opportunities would continue to exist. Furthermore, according to Sell, efforts were made to secure products and future topics for the individual locations as much as possible. Bosch plans to cut around 22,000 jobs in its supplier division in Germany in the coming years. The group is relying particularly on voluntary programs such as early retirement, partial retirement, and severance packages to implement the cuts as socially acceptable as possible. Following individual announcements, Bosch announced a larger reduction of over 13,000 jobs in September. Negotiations with employee representatives have been ongoing since then.
