The next phase of construction on the new roundabout on State Route 825 in the city of Rome is underway, Oneida County officials said in a July 2 statement. An on-site detour will begin July 7 and will be in effect for the duration of construction. The on-site detour will restrict traffic to a single lane in both directions with dedicated turning lanes and a temporary traffic light at the Perimeter Road/State Route 825 intersection. Temporary measures to accommodate pedestrian and bicycle traffic will also be implemented. Commuters should expect minor delays. The development is the latest milestone in support of Chobani's future 2-million-square-foot dairy processing facility on the County-owned Triangle Site at Griffiss International Airport. A significant portion of site and infrastructure work at the Triangle Site is being completed by Oneida County using a combination of county and New York State funding. "This project continues to move from planning to reality and reflects the coordinated effort underway to prepare the Triangle Site at Griffiss for transformational investment," said Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente Jr. in a statement.
