Denny's announced Wednesday that it is launching "Sticky Kicks," the first sneakers filled with real Denny's syrup. The yellow, red and gold high-top shoes will debut on Dec. 17 in honor of National Maple Syrup Day. "Sticky Kicks are impractical, unnecessary and completely over the top, which is exactly why we love them," said Ellie Doty, senior vice president and chief brand officer at Denny's. "At Denny's, syrup isn't just something we serve. It's part of who we are. It's our golden thread. So, it only makes sense we'd be the first to turn it into fashion." While it may sound like an extra early April Fools' Day joke, Denny's insists the limited-edition streetwear is the real deal. The sneakers were made in collaboration with footwear artist and designer Mache to "pay tribute to the sweet stuff that makes every Grand Slam (breakfast) irresistible." According to a news release, the syrup is embedded inside a clear, sealed panel displaying the "maple magic" condiment. The sugary flex complements the shoes' golden syrup-colored patent leather with tumbled yellow accents featuring the iconic Denny's logo.
