By Denis Sheehan, Publisher, H&C News Earlier this week, DoorDash announced a strategic partnership with Wonder, the food technology business founded by Marc Lore. DoorDash will acquire Grubhub's Campus Dining business from Wonder for $300 million and separately invest $125 million in Wonder. The transaction itself is significant. What surrounds it is potentially more interesting. Wonder says the new investment will support continued expansion alongside further investment in technology, robotics and AI. The business has grown to 157 restaurants serving customers, more than four times the number it operated at the beginning of 2025. At each, customers can order dishes from multiple restaurant concepts in a single transaction, prepared within the same operation for collection, delivery or dining in. Lore has also described an ambition to create a fully autonomous food system capable of planning, producing and delivering personalised meals at scale. That remains an ambition. But some of the components required to pursue it are increasingly visible. Wonder has been developing automation within food production through technologies including its Infinite Kitchen and recently unveiled Infinite Makeline.
