The multinational Edwards Lifesciences is making progress in the commissioning of its sixth global heart valve factory in the Valencian town of Moncada. The plant, which will involve an initial investment of 150 million euros in a first phase, will have the capacity to produce 50,000 valves per year mainly for the European market. Construction work is entering its final phase to start operations in the first quarter of 2027, for which the company has already incorporated a hundred workers, a good part of whom are being trained and certified for the production of this technology. Edwards' forecast is to hire up to 1,200 people, 80% of whom will be manufacturing technicians. "The goal is to have about 300 workers in three years and by 2028-2029 about 600 until reaching a workforce of 1,200 people by 2030," Joe Nuzzolese, global vice president of Supply Chain and Quality for the firm, told this newspaper a year ago.
