Sept. 23 Catholic Health is eliminating 40 positions across five of its locations and realigning 34 other roles, according to a Sept. 22 press release shared with Fierce Healthcare. The layoffs affect both union and non-union positions at Catholic Health’s Administrative and Regional Training Center, Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, Sisters of Charity Hospital and St. Joseph Campus. The health system is working with affected employees to review potential placement opportunities in current openings, the announcement said. Moreover, 34 positions within Mercy Hospital are being realigned as “volumes surge” in its emergency department.
