Ford Motor Co. has tapped the CEO of an energy company to lead its new stationary energy storage systems business as Lisa Drake plans to retire at the end of 2026 after 32 years with the Dearborn automaker. Dave Carroll will step in as president of Ford Energy effective Aug. 31. He joins Ford from ENGIE North America, the Texas-based regional hub of French company ENGIE SA that specializes in renewable, storage and low-carbon energy products for the commercial, industrial and public sector. Carroll will have the responsibility of overseeing the completion of retooling at Ford's battery plant in Glendale, Kentucky, for production of lithium-iron-phosphate batteries for energy storage applications. The launch is expected next year, and executive are betting the subsidiary will help propel Ford's money-losing Model e electric vehicle division to profitability. Carroll will also oversee commercial strategy and sale. He'll report to John Lawler, Ford vice chair.
