Access will expand gradually through Google's Fairwind programme before any wider launch to developers, businesses and consumers. Google calls Gemini 4 Carbon its strongest model to date and is positioning the release around software engineering, coding and cyber defence. It says the system improves on Gemini 4 Argon, launched two weeks earlier, and that it is taking a deliberate approach to deployment while participating in the US government's voluntary pre-release model testing process. Pricing matches the introductory level for Argon: USD $2 per million input tokens and USD $10 per million output tokens. Cached input tokens will cost 95% less than the standard input token rate. Cyber focus A large part of the announcement centred on cybersecurity. Google said Carbon led several external benchmarks covering different stages of cyber defence, including vulnerability detection, exploitation testing and patching. According to Google, the model scored 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro for identifying vulnerabilities, 54.8% on ExploitGym for exploitation, and 71.0% on CWE-bench for patching.
