For MAPD brokers, who is still writing UHC and Humana non-commissionable plans?

Across most of the country over the past few years, UnitedHealthcare and Humana have made many of their MAPD plans non-commissionable. I refuse to work for free and represent these plans going forward. Are there any MAPD-certified brokers who are still willingly selling these plans? Just curious as to why you would put a client on a plan you receive no commissions on.

  • “I have them available, and will put a client on one of it is clearly the only real option for them. Last year, of my 700+ clients, I think I used them for maybe 10-15 people, usually because of formulary. I believe I will keep more clients long term by doing the right thing. I generally tell them we're not getting paid on this one.”

  • “The issue is you’re taking on liability without getting paid. Carriers are making it so much harder for agents to make money W2 places won’t let you. Even the reduced commission plans. Can’t do what’s best for the client Edit: one reason is because you may be able to sell other types of plans or policies. Also, if it’s a spouse in the house.”
