Interactive BrokersCustomer feedback

Interactive Brokers (IBKR) is frequently recommended for automated trading, though users note its API can be messy and requires setting up a gateway that needs weekly reauthentication.

Just as the title says. I currently use Schwab. But it is not a live tick level stream. It is an update stream. So my delay is around 1.5 seconds. Not terrible to some, but as a 0dte trader it can be a huge difference. So what broker do you guys use? And is it the same place that you get your market data stream from for your engine or do you use a hybrid approach for faster data in but still execute real order via the brokerage API? If so, what data stream provider do you use? I was looking at databento and thetadata.

  • [comment u/wsxedcrf] I use ibkr, but you go to thave a IB gateway setup, I use docker container to set one up that I need to reauthenticate once per week.

  • [comment u/absurd_atheism] honestly I just use interactive brokers, the api is kinda messy but it works once you get it set up.
