The scramble for GPU capacity has turned into a race to build data centers fast enough to keep up. Training and serving frontier models like ChatGPT and Claude requires power, land, and GPUs all at once - and even hyperscalers like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google can't absorb all of that demand. That's why independent GPU clouds, the so-called "neoclouds," keep closing billion-dollar rounds one after another. London-based Nscale, a full-stack AI cloud platform, vertically integrates power, data centers, and software. It serves hyperscalers, frontier model labs, AI natives, and enterprises building and scaling AI, and its total contracted value (TCV) now exceeds $103 billion. The company builds everything in house, from behind-the-meter power plants to liquid-cooled data centers and large-scale GPU clusters, betting vertical integration gives it an edge on cost and speed. The momentum shows on the customer side too. Earlier this month, Nscale signed a deal with robotics startup Figure to deploy up to 100,000 GPUs - an initial $3.5 billion compute commitment the two companies intend to scale past $6 billion - and made a strategic investment in Figure alongside it. Nscale was founded in 2024 by Australian entrepreneur Josh Payne. He started out working in mining before building a construction-labor marketplace, then moved through renewable-energy investing and crypto-mining...
