Samsung invests $1 billion in Helix AI infrastructure firm

Samsung Electronics and five of its affiliates announced Tuesday they would jointly put $1 billion into Helix Digital Infrastructure, an AI infrastructure firm that KKR created and Nvidia has backed. Of the $1 billion total, Samsung Electronics is contributing $500 million, with the remaining amount split among Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS, Samsung SDI, Samsung Life Insurance, and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, Samsung said. KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority, Nvidia, and U.S. power company Vistra are also founding investors in Helix. Helix, which got off the ground in June 2026, is built to serve the full stack of AI infrastructure needs, spanning hyperscale data center development and operations, power generation, transmission and distribution, and fiber-optic networks. The company is led by Adam Selipsky, the former CEO of Amazon Web Services. Before Samsung's involvement, Helix had already secured upward of $10 billion in committed capital, according to CNBC. Samsung said the deal positions the group to expand beyond its traditional role as a hardware component supplier into a broader role in the global AI infrastructure ecosystem.
