In the 1830s, it housed the Bazar Bonne-Nouvelle, one of Paris's first department stores and business centres. Following its closure after a fire in 1930, the current building was constructed in 1953 as a post office by architects Joseph Bukiet and André Gutton. The complex has undergone a major regeneration project led by Covéa Immobilier in collaboration with the architectural practice PCA-Stream, which has preserved the original concrete and metal architecture, restored the building's original proportions, opened it up to the surrounding neighbourhood and incorporated new outdoor green spaces.
