CORVALLIS, Ore. - Corvallis residents now have a new option for recycling items that typically cannot go in curbside bins with the opening of a Recycle On center. Circular Action Alliance and Republic Services have teamed up to open the facility, which is designed to accept hard-to-recycle materials including used motor oil, shredded paper, aluminum foil and water bottle lids. The site also includes electronics recycling. Alex Bertolucci, communications manager for Circular Action Alliance, said the effort helps reduce landfill waste and gives materials a second use. "It's keeping things out of the landfill. It's giving them another life. Whether it's the materials that are being collected here at the RecycleOn Center or or glass bottles and jars, or electronics, motor oil... any of that is going to be a better step than throwing it away or just wasting it in some other way," Bertolucci said. The location was selected because a recycling center was already there, with bins for larger items such as boxes, glass and plastics, making it a convenient drop-off spot for items that are not as easily disposed of. The center is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., except on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Drop-offs are free.
