Roblox Unveils Expansions to Play, Creation, and Monetization at RDC

On September 11 (US local time), Roblox hosted its 12th annual Roblox Developers Conference (RDC) and unveiled updates expanding play environments, creation tools, and creator monetization systems. The announcements come as the platform celebrates its 20th anniversary. According to Roblox, users in over 180 countries spent a total of 29 billion hours on the platform in Q2 2026. In play, Roblox introduced 'Roblox Everywhere,' which supports creators in offering their games as standalone apps for mobile, PC, and consoles. By the end of 2026, it will provide a feature allowing users to play directly from a game's Experience Details Page in the Chrome browser without installing a separate app, with plans to expand supported browsers in the future. A feature allowing developers to combine online and offline modes within a single game is also being introduced. As a result, single-player campaigns and game sessions can be accessed even without a network connection. For 2D game creation, orthogonal cameras, animated image containers, and sprite sheet importing functions are being added to the engine. Roblox also revealed a Friends chat tab that persists across games, alongside voice input functionality.
