| | BUCKHANNON, W.Va. - WVU Medicine St. Joseph's Hospital has completed the installation of 23 new Stryker ProCuity smart hospital beds, representing another investment in patient safety, comfort and the delivery of high-quality care for the Buckhannon community. The hospital purchased 23 Stryker ProCuity LEX beds, including 19 for the Medical-Surgical Unit and four for the Critical Care Unit. Through WVU Medicine, St. Joseph's is able to bring advanced technology like the ProCuity beds to patients right here in Buckhannon. The new ProCuity beds are designed with advanced safety technology to help reduce patient falls and improve mobility. Features include integrated bed-exit detection, low-height positioning, ergonomic controls for patients and caregivers and connectivity that supports more efficient clinical workflows. The beds are also designed to promote patient comfort while making it easier for caregivers to provide safe, high-quality care. The new beds replace equipment that had reached the end of its service life. The previous beds had been in service for approximately 17 years and no longer met the hospital's long-term needs. After being retired, the beds were sold to a third-party company for things such as nursing education.
