Hey everyone! I currently have a Dell PowerEdge R620 running VMware ESXi 6.5 U2, but unfortunately it can no longer be upgraded to newer VMware versions due to hardware compatibility limitations. I’m looking to replace it and would appreciate some recommendations for a good price-to-performance server that can officially support VMware ESXi 8.0.3. I’ve been considering a Dell PowerEdge R740, but I’m open to other Dell models or even other brands/vendors such as HPE, Lenovo, Cisco UCS, Supermicro, etc. Ideally, I’m looking for something suitable for a home lab / virtualization environment without spending a fortune. A few questions: - What server would you recommend for VMware ESXi 8.0.3 in terms of price/performance?- Is the Dell R740 still a good choice, or is there a better option?- Are there any particular CPUs, RAID controllers, NICs, or other components I should avoid due to VMware compatibility?- Besides eBay, what reliable websites or vendors do you recommend for purchasing refurbished/used enterprise servers? I’m located in Mexico, so international sellers that ship to Mexico would also be helpful. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!
