US-based automated test equipment and robotics maker Teradyne has opened a new office in Bengaluru to strengthen its support for India's growing semiconductor and electronics manufacturing ecosystem, as the country steps up efforts to build domestic chip production and testing capabilities. The Bengaluru office, at Bagmane Cosmos Tech Park, will serve as Teradyne's local base for customer engagement, applications support, training and partnerships, the company said on Tuesday. The move is a formal expansion of Teradyne's presence in India and comes as investments in semiconductor fabrication, outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) and other manufacturing infrastructure gather pace under the government's India Semiconductor Mission. "India is at an inflection point in its semiconductor journey and establishing a permanent office in Bengaluru reflects our long-term commitment to this market," Teradyne President and CEO Greg Smith said. Smith said the company intends to work with customers, government and other industry participants as India develops domestic fabrication, packaging and testing capabilities. Teradyne's semiconductor and electronics testing portfolio covers stages of the chip supply chain from wafer manufacturing through to data centres.
