Cadence Design Systems Inc. and Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) have jointly developed the next-generation SHARC-FX DSP architecture for ADI's new ADSP-SC84x/2184x automotive audio processor family, targeting increasingly compute-intensive audio, voice and AI workloads in software-defined vehicles. The collaboration brings Cadence's Tensilica DSP technology into ADI's latest SHARC processor architecture. ADI said the new platform is designed to support applications including automated-driving alerts, Acoustic Vehicle Alerting Systems (AVAS), road-noise and engine-order cancellation, personal sound zones, immersive 3D audio, voice processing and AI-assisted functions. The ADSP-SC84x family succeeds the ADSP-SC59x/2159x generation and moves from a 28nm to a 16nm process. The new platform adds an LPDDR4 memory interface, increased on-chip L2 memory and a dedicated hardware security module (HSM), along with two optional connectivity cores supporting additional communications functions and mainline Linux.
