GEORGETOWN - Williamson County is offering more incentives in an effort to attract Amazon founder Jeff Bezos' aerospace company to Central Texas. In a special meeting Thursday, county commissioners unanimously approved an economic development agreement with Blue Origin, publicly identifying the company for the first time in connection with the project. The project would represent a $674 million investment, Williamson County Judge Steven Snell said Thursday, and Blue Origin would likely become Hutto's largest employer. Hutto recently approved economic development agreements to bring the aerospace firm to the small town, located about 30 miles northeast of Austin. The details of those agreements - and any incentives attached - remain unknown. Public information requests have so far yielded entirely redacted documents. But Williamson County's agreement shed a little more light on the aerospace company's possible new facility. "The investment is enormous," Snell said. "It's game changing for the city of Hutto and Williamson County. The amount of jobs that are coming and the amount of investment in our public schools is really exciting. Not only to bring them in but watch them pour back into our community and improve the quality of life."
