The Burger King at 500 Lyons Ave. in Irvington has reopened following a major remodel featuring the chain's new "Sizzle" restaurant design, with a community celebration scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. The refreshed location includes digital ordering kiosks, an enhanced drive-thru and a designated pickup area. New design elements feature a "King Booth," "Crown Wall" photo moment and Whopper art installation. According to franchise owner Chris Johnson, the remodel "was a big one" that took four months to complete and required the eatery to be completely closed. But Johnson believes the remodel was well worth the wait. H e noted that he purchased the business 10 years ago with the intention of remodeling. When Burger King unveiled its 'Sizzle' concept, the timing was perfect. "I grew up 10, 15 minutes down the road; I grew up coming here," Johnson said, adding, "Irvington deserves a brand-new Burger King and I'm excited to make the investment and bring it to the community." Johnson said Burger King is elevating "every part of the brand -- the food, the experience, the locations, the service."
