On 1 September 2026, Egypt's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, through the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI), signed a memorandum of understanding with Cisco Systems to train 3,000 internationally certified technology instructors under the Cisco Networking Academy programme. The three-year programme will train 1,000 people annually. The initiative will particularly target university professors, faculty members, and independent lecturers. Participants will receive training and certification in areas including data networking, information and network security, operating systems, and artificial intelligence. The programme is intended to expand the pool of qualified trainers able to transfer technical knowledge and support digital skills development in Egypt and beyond. Separately, Egypt's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Cisco s igned a letter of intent to cooperate on national digital initiatives and support the implementation of Egypt's national AI strategy. The cooperation will explore the adoption and scaling of AI solutions across government and priority sectors, while also supporting skills development, institutional capacity building, and the expansion of AI applications.
