The discount retailer is inviting eligible businesses to explore potential partnership opportunities and access training and funding resources. Dollar General brought back its annual Call for Small Businesses , inviting U.S.-based small businesses that haven't sold at the retailer within the last 18 months to learn about opportunities to work with the company. Eligible businesses can apply online through Aug. 17 for a chance to attend virtual meetings with Dollar General's small business team in the fall, according to a Tuesday press release. "At Dollar General, our mission of serving others is grounded in providing meaningful products to our customers, and we are committed to engaging with a wide variety of vendors and suppliers across the country to help us fulfill that promise," Bryan Wheeler, Dollar General's executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, said in a statement. The discount chain's small business development program provides learning opportunities with its SBD Academy, resources for product discovery, services that provide funding and more. Dollar General's Q1 net sales increased 3.4% year over year to $10.8 billion, per a June release. Same-store sales grew 2% with a 1.4% jump in store traffic and 0.5% increase in average transaction amount.
