Just one day after Warner Music Group announced a licensing agreement and partnership with AI music generator Suno, Universal has struck a deal of its own - this time with AI audio startup ElevenLabs. The two companies have struck a licensing agreement that will see ElevenLabs launch an AI-powered music platform built on Universal's catalogue of artists. The platform will allow fans to remix and mash up artist tracks, along with creating "new track interpretations" and "personalised vocal experiences," according to the companies. The platform is in addition to other AI audio products the two plan to create. "Universal Music Group and ElevenLabs are aligned that responsible AI can inspire discovery, deepen engagement between artists and fans, and unlock new revenue opportunities for the creative community," Sir Lucian Grainge, Universal's Chairman and CEO, said in a statement. Universal's artist roster includes major names such as Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga.
