(KWCH) - Utility regulators in Kansas have handed a win to landowners in the south central region. The Kansas Corporation Commission voted unanimously on Tuesday to approve part of Evergy's proposed construction of a 133-mile transmission line. However, Evergy will have to reconsider a portion of the line. The line will begin near Garden Plain and end near Delaware, Okla. The KCC determined that the route from Garden Plain to where the crosses US-77 in Cowley County is reasonable, and it was approved. There was insufficient evidence to determine if the route for the proposed line east of US-77 to the Oklahoma border was reasonable. That portion of the line was not approved. Landowners in the area were concerned about the size and impact of the project. Evergy said the line will send electricity to Kansas and provide benefits to Evergy customers. The proposed line would go through western Sedgwick, Sumner, Cowley and Chautauqua counties.
