A designer reports that Figma's native spell checker is inadequate because it only shows errors when directly selecting a layer rather than across the general canvas.

I've had a few issues recently where designs have gone live or been sent to the client with spelling or grammar errors. Even after going through formal proofreading, human error can slip in - especially when dealing with large sets or variations of designs. I know a quick fix is dropping screenshots or text into Claude or ChatGPT, but doing that manually for dozens of designs isn't seamless or efficient at scale. Has anyone found a good workaround for this? I’ve seen paid Figma plugins that handle copy checks, but since I’m already paying for a Claude subscription, I’d rather not add another recurring tool cost if I can avoid it. I was looking into connecting Claude with Figma to review text directly from the canvas, but I'd love to know if anyone here has successfully set up a workflow like this or found a clever alternative. (also I know Figma has a spell checker, but you can only see an error when going into that layer - not from just a general view of the design). Thanks so much!

  • “If you try the MCP route, start with one approved frame and ask for a review report: original text, proposed correction, and the layer it came from. Keep brand terms on a do-not-change list and approve corrections before anything writes back. Check the report against the frame's actual text layers, including variants, so a partial read doesn't pass as a complete proofread. Only send client content”
