Fiserv Launches Digital Asset Platform With North Dakota’s Roughrider Coin

Fiserv announced on October 1, 2026 that its digital asset platform had gone live with financial institution clients, with Roughrider Coin becoming its first live use case. Developed by the Bank of North Dakota (BND), the dollar-backed token deposit is designed for bank-to-bank transactions across the state’s community banks and credit unions, exactly one year after Fiserv and BND first announced the partnership on October 8, 2025. BND CEO Don Morgan said the bank proudly works alongside its financial partners to strengthen agriculture, commerce, and industry across North Dakota, adding that launching Roughrider Coin with Fiserv gives partner community banks and credit unions a new tool to move money more efficiently across the state’s interbank network. North Dakota is only the second U.S. state to pursue this kind of state-sponsored stablecoin model. Fiserv provides the digital asset infrastructure, VersaBank USA issues and provides custody, Fireblocks supports digital asset infrastructure, and transactions are processed on Solana, according to Fiserv’s announcement.
