MADISON (WKOW) -- Hy-Vee stores across the region are asking customers to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar this month to support the American Heart Association's fight against cardiovascular disease. The campaign comes as new research from the American Heart Association shows approximately 6 in 10 U.S. adults will develop some type of cardiovascular disease within the next 30 years. Through AHA's Life Is Why campaign, shoppers can donate at checkout in-store and at self-checkouts throughout September. "Hy-Vee's support of the American Heart Association's Life Is Why campaign exemplifies the power of collaboration in driving meaningful change in heart and brain health," said Kevin Harker, executive vice president of the Midwest Region for the American Heart Association. "This will help fund more critical research and enable us to reach more communities with lifesaving initiatives." The initiative also supports the American Heart Association's Together Tuesdays campaign, which encourages people to gather for and share a healthy meal with loved ones at least once per week.
