Microchip Technology10-Q: Compliance burden

Admits failure to prevent unauthorized flow of products to Russia and Belarus

What happened

Despite stopping direct sales in March 2022, the company acknowledges its products are still being indirectly obtained by entities in sanctioned regions. This highlights a significant failure in supply chain traceability and control, creating urgent reputational, legal, and operational risks.

Quarterly report (Form 10-Q)

Microchip Technology 10-Q

Filing excerpt

since we do not support the actions of Russia against Ukraine, in March 2022 we stopped selling products to customers and distributors located in Russia and Belarus. However, we have been made aware that there are entities in Russia that indirectly obtained our products after March 2022 despite the preventative measures we took and continue to take. Though we continue to improve our processes and procedures to prevent the unauthorized flow of our products, our actions have not been fully successful.
