It is a significant vote of confidence in southeast Bakersfield and a chance to connect more families with employment in their own community. The wage commitments also deserve attention. Under its California Competes tax-credit agreement, Ross has committed to 200 full-time jobs at the Bakersfield facility by the 2030 tax year, with a cumulative average annual wage of $71,313 for the hires counted toward that commitment. That is an average above $70,000, not a starting salary or a guarantee that every job among the nearly 1,000 projected positions will pay that amount.
