Shell appoints Elohor Aiboni executive vice president, Nigeria country chair. June 17, 2026 Energy company Shell has appointed Elohor Aiboni as executive vice president and country chair for Nigeria, replacing Marno de Jong, who is leaving the company after 34 years of service. Oyo Police reports The appointment takes effect on August 1. A statement from the company said Aiboni, a former managing director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo), will take over from Mr de Jong, who is leaving to pursue another opportunity. De Jong joined Shell in 1992 as a project engineer and later held positions across the United Kingdom, Venezuela, Nigeria, Australia, the United States, the Netherlands, Malaysia and Indonesia. He was appointed Senior Vice President for Nigeria in 2020 and later became Executive Vice President and Country Chair, overseeing Shell's operations in the country. Commenting on his exit, de Jong said he appreciated the support he received during his time in Nigeria and expressed confidence in Aiboni's leadership. "I'm grateful for the support I have enjoyed since my time in Nigeria which has enabled us to achieve progress on many fronts.
