Unicorn Sword Health invests 250 million in Porto and creates a global AI hub in healthcare. It is in the cradle of its birth that Sword Health will apply an investment of 20 million euros, with the goal of creating a global hub in artificial intelligence (AI) for the healthcare sector. The unicorn founded by Virgílio Bento will invest this amount over the next three years, until 2028. The investment was announced this Monday by the founder and CEO of Sword Health, which started in 2015 precisely in Invicta [Porto]. "This investment of 250 million euros in Portugal, until 2028, reflects our belief that the country has all the conditions to become a leader in the area of AI," stated Virgílio Bento at the time of the announcement. The CEO added that this capital comes to reinforce "our vision for a more innovative Portugal, capable of elevating its talent and creating global solutions and world leaders," making this the "example that Sword wants to set in the national ecosystem." The amount will be divided into three pillars that the company considers strategic for the future. Sword will allocate 60 million euros - instead of the 30 million initially planned - for human resources, in order to grow the team in national territory, increasing from the current 500 to more than 930 qualified workers.
