Article excerpt
Louisianna LNG Expansion targets 11.7 MTPA boost. June 13, 2026 Venture Global CP2 LNG (CP2 LNG) and Venture Global CP Express (CP Express) have jointly requested authorization for the CP2 LNG Expansion Project. The companies want to site, construct, own, operate, and maintain additional liquefaction and export capacity at the existing CP2 LNG terminal, which is currently under development along the Calcasieu Ship Channel in Cameron Parish, Louisiana. At the core of the expansion are six new liquefaction blocks, which together will provide up to 11.7 MTPA of incremental LNG production capacity. Each liquefaction block will include single mixed refrigerant units, centrifugal compressors driven by electric motors, refrigerant separation vessels, cold boxes, air-cooled exchangers, and heavy hydrocarbon removal systems. These additions mirror the configuration of the previously authorized facilities, ensuring design and operational consistency across the terminal. Supporting infrastructure will include new pretreatment systems designed to condition incoming natural gas prior to liquefaction. These systems will remove contaminants such as mercury, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, water, and heavy hydrocarbons. The project also incorporates nitrogen rejection units and LNG expanders to manage gas composition and optimize product quality. Vapor management systems will play a...
