Whoop users report that the in-app AI coach intermittently delivers automated custom heart rate push notifications despite claiming it lacks notification capabilities.

Highlighted: the lines this signal was extracted from

I opened the AI in app and typed this prompt: “Give me daily notifications formatted like this: In the past 7 days you achieved xxx/180 minutes above 120 BPM. So far this week you achieved xxx/180. The first number should be a rolling total of the previous 7 days and the second number should be the current Sunday-Saturday calendar week. Both numbers reporting time spent above 120 beats per minute for my heart rate.” The AI came back and said “Right now I don’t have the ability to push automated notifications to you the way the app does, but I can give you the numbers in that exact format whenever you check in.” Yet today it sent me the snipped notification, as requested. It seems to be intermittent, but it works to some degree if there’s something you want to track closely.

  • [comment u/aurisdad] If it says it can’t do something…. And then does… I’d very very suspect of any info it’s sending. But then again I’ve become very sus of anything whoop AI says.

  • “Pretty neat. I actually noticed that once, AI says no can’t do and then a couple of days later it does it, i don’t remember the exact thing i asked for though. I wonder if it could push a notification once a certain strain target has been reached during a strength trainer session so i can wrap things up quickly.”
