I recently took over an established jewelry casting business in Los Angeles. Most of our work is B2B. The previous owner offered clients payment terms, but I decided to accept credit cards instead, with an additional 3% fee that my clients agreed to.Getting approved for merchant services was difficult because I was on the MATCH list under Reason Code 14, related to potential identity theft. I was eventually approved by Bank of America. After about two weeks of processing transactions, they suddenly closed my account and are holding nearly $132,000 for up to six months in case of chargebacks. They did not give me a solid reason why they are shutting my merchant services down, but just simply a “business decision”. I need those funds to buy raw materials and keep the business operating. I have resale certificates for all my clients and have AML procedures in place. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation with Bank of America or another processor? Were you able to get the funds released sooner, or is there anything I should do?
