Based on the posts reddit shoved down my throat I feel like the average here is ~100ms? and that pretty much no one here cares about it, but I am still curios

  • [comment u/nNaz] Exchange timestamp -> sending order request is 0.6ms for Binance and 2-5ms for other exchanges depending on their connectivity.

  • “I'm on prediction markets, but similar fully automated setup. E2E median is 8-9ms, 95% under 15ms. That's measured from server timestamp (say another trade or orderbook update) to server timestamp of my trade executing. Most of the time is just waiting on getting the event, followed by the matching engine taking 2-3ms to execute once it receives the order. There might be a little time to improve”

  • “nobody here has said the bit that actually costs money, which is that your latency number only matters relative to the fill your backtest assumed. 100ms is fine if you modelled crossing the spread. 100ms is brutal if you modelled mid, because whatever moved in that 100ms is exactly the thing that filled you. we're on daily bars so latency is a rounding error on our end, but we still had to go ba”
