Syria signs contract with two American companies to develop the gas sector 16 June 2026 5:11 PM Damascus, June 16 (QNA) - The Syrian Petroleum Company signed a contract today with the American companies ConocoPhillips and Novaterra to develop a number of gas fields in Syria and increase production from existing fields, contributing to supporting the energy system and enhancing gas supplies needed for the electricity sector and other vital sectors. The contract aims to increase gas production from the targeted fields, develop their operational infrastructure according to the latest technical standards, support plans for developing the energy sector, and attract international expertise and investments to contribute to rehabilitating and developing the sector's infrastructure. Syrian Energy Minister Muhammad al-Bashir said that signing the contract represents an important milestone in the path of developing Syria's energy sector and reflects the return of international confidence in the investment environment in the sector and the ability of national institutions to build effective strategic partnerships.
