  • [comment u/seajamiet12] Turn CPU virtualization off in the BIOS. I know that sounds ridiculous considering you're installing Proxmox but it solved the issue I had when I installed on the R710.

  • [comment u/jbakers] Check Integrated Devices > USB Flash Drive Emulation Type in the bios, it's probably on Auto, set it to Hard Disk.

  • [comment u/big_papa_franko] If you still have that P.O.S PERC card installed it'll cause hangs when booting.

The stick then shows up under Hard-Disk Drive Sequence instead of the normal boot list. That's usually why legacy doesn't see it, and legacy is way more stable than uefi on these. Otherwise just install debian 13 netinst and add proxmox on top. It's 700mb so you never hit the long r”

  • “As someone who LITERALLY was doing this as you posted. My fix was adding intel_iommu=off to /etc/default/grub in the linux line right after quiet. If you still have that P.O.S PERC card installed it'll cause hangs when booting. You will need to disable Virtualization off in bios to install, but after the install finishes, boot in without VT enabled, add that to the grub file, and do update-grub.”
